A letter from our founders' wife
We're more than a Gym – We’re a Family

Hello,
First, I want to say thank you…
ITZ Sports Performance was a dream of Tom’s that started almost eight years ago. He began with one Noah analytic shooting machine on a back court at the Fitness Center in the Valley. He quickly grew, sharing his knowledge of shot development and his passion for helping kids become the best version of themselves. This passion caught the attention of a dad who loved what Tom was doing and asked if he would be interested in taking it to a larger scale.
Fast forward to June of 2022, when Tom and Steve Huettl opened ITZ Sports Performance. They had no idea what kind of response they would get from the community, but they shared a love of basketball and a vision to create a place where kids could grow and play the game. Like any new business, there were bumps along the way, figuring out what to offer, who would lead the kids, how to market and get the word out, and which new ideas would stick. Some worked, some did not. The lessons were not always easy, but we learned from them, regrouped, and asked ourselves, “How can we do better?”
Fast forward again to 2025. What we have built has inspired others to start their own versions around Spokane and North Idaho. Basketball is growing again, which makes us so happy to see. When Covid hit, many younger kids, especially girls, lost interest in competitive basketball. One of our biggest goals has been to make the PNW known for basketball again. We are seeing kids coming back to the game, and we are so thankful for all the programs in the area working to revive it.
Competition is a good thing. It keeps us on our toes and pushes us to be our best. As a small, family-run business, it can be challenging to keep up with the bigger players in town who have more resources. But we are taking this as a chance to go back to the drawing board and create something even better. We are excited about the plans we have in place and would love your support.
In closing, I want to thank you again. Starting a new business is hard, especially when it is something entirely new to the area. We were not reinventing the wheel, we were inventing it. We hope you will embrace the fact that we are new, we are learning, and we are growing. Please come by, say hello, look around, and show your support.
Sincerely,
Shannon Emory
